Out of the Mouths of Babes

Daughter: "Daddy, you are so tall, you can reach anything."
Daddy: "Well, I can't reach the moon."
Daughter: "We need to get you a ladder. We'll have to go buy one."

BUSH

Commenting on his second veto of the proposed stem-cell research bill, President Bush said today, "Destroying human life in the hopes of saving human life is not ethical, and it is not the only option before us."

This comment reminds me of the following line in the Shawshank Redemption, the one where Andy Dufresene looks at the warden and says, "How can you be so obtuse, is it deliberate?"

POEM- Life Touching Life

I found this poem this week when I was rummaging through files and paper stacks. It was written about and for my daughter 3 days after she was born.

Dark, long, and with a slight curl
The solitary strand caused me to stand
Upright, tense, breathless
The legs of time stood still

Incomprehensible purity, the embodiment of beauty
Exhiliration, anticipation
Life touching life
